How does the Green ABC's Work?
By tying each letter of the alphabet with a green living concept or term, kids and adults, too become familiar with the term. The more the term is repeated the more it becomes a part of your everyday life.
But, the Green ABC's goes a couple steps further. We not only define the term that is illustrated for you, but we also tell you if the concept or term helps or hurts the planet.
Then we give you an action step to get you on the road to green living?
We have found that when we bring our flash card system to groups like Cub Scouts or Neighborhood Association meetings that the participants become very excited about the terms and are thrilled to talk about what they are already doing in this area. Imaginations also begin to soar.
So, how do the Green ABC' work? Well, they get everyone talking about green living and that is what starts community and imagination and that is what keeps innovation growing.
How did the Green ABC's begin?
The creator of the Green ABC's is April Brewster Smythe. She had been a freelance writer throughout her life and loved words. And she also loves kids.
After going through a tough time, she had what is sometimes known as an epiphany ( a sudden realization) and began to understand that green living could help her community, and most of all - kids.
Because she understood that green living will become a significant part of the future generatations life.
So, she designed a program using the alphabet where she pinpoints letters and green living words. There's a lot more to the story, but all in all that's about the beginning.
Has the Green ABC's won any awards?
Yes, the Green ABC's has won an Entrepreneurial Award in 2009 through the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center.
And, in June of 2010 the Green ABC's was the recipient of a Green Innovators Award.
